ARE FEATHERS FOR REAL?
A Reminder To Trust

A Commentary by Constance Vanides

The visiting pastor spoke of many manifestations of the Holy Spirit during his meeting at the church we attended. We listened politely, partially believing in the miraculous for today, when all of a sudden, floating down from the closed ceiling, tiny feathers gently landed on my husband’s dark sweater. “Look!” our friend excitedly called out, “The feathers are on your sweater!”

Sure enough, my husband picked off the mysteriously-appearing feathers. Later, he shared them with the speaker, who opened his wallet to show us his collection of similarly appearing feathers caught at other times!

Why feathers? There were no birds in that large auditorium! So where did the feathers come from and why?

Then I remembered Psalm 91, words that bring a sense of God’s comfort as one is covered with His feathers.

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge…”(Psalm 91:1-4)

Knowing that God desires us to seek Him at all times, surely He can send feathers as a reminder that He still desires you to know His protection is with you at all times.

Look! I see a feather just where I am! Thank You, Lord, for the reminder to trust You at all times!
